Christmas at the Flower Shop

Lan puts the finishing touches on a Christmas centerpiece.

Christmas at the flower shop: it brings back many memories for this blog writer, who worked three Christmases at Fena Flowers during college and then five Christmases after before being forced into early retirement.

Christmas at Fena Flowers is the smell of cedar...

...pine...

...and fir.

It's a lovely, woodsy scent that clings to your clothes even after you leave the shop, especially if you've accidentally gotten sap on your shirt, never to get it out again!

Hands and knives and clippers are all quite sticky during the Christmas greens season! Regular applications of WD-40 to both tools and hands becomes a necessity.

A holiday arrangement.

Christmas at the flower shop is known for the bright pops of red, be it holly berries...

...ilex berries...

...or poinsettias.

During the month of December, every designer leaves a faint trail of glitter in his or her wake, thanks to the glitter spray used to dust holiday arrangements and outgoing poinsettias with a bit of magical sparkle! Glitter on the skin, glitter in the hair, glitter in the car, twinkling little bits of glitter everywhere...

There's more to Christmas at the flower shop than just the evergreens. Fena Flowers decorates private homes and businesses and creates plenty of party decor during the holiday season, which means that there must be all kinds of decorations on hand!

Balls large and small, matte and shiny...

...in red and gold and green and silver...

...wait ready to be tucked into arrangements, attached to wreaths, or hung on trees!

Candles in red and white, some pillars and some tapers...

...stand ready to be placed in Christmas centerpieces.

Bolts upon bolts of Christmas ribbon in every shade of red and gold and burgundy...

...with all manner of festive embellishments...

...are wrapped in rich swags around trees, fashioned into large bows for wreaths and garlands, and are nestled into arrangements.

Hotels and conference centers demand opulent, eye-catching decorations, so the back room at the flower shop is filled with bins of things that sparkle...
